I have OCD. I close the kitchen door. Then I have to open it to make sure the light is off in the garage. Then I close the door. Then I have to open it to make sure it is locked by turning the knob on the outside. Then I close the door. i do this every night.
And I think this video is hilarious!

@Matrix29bear I hope this is a long winded sarcastic joke. The OCD isn't forgetting, it's a fear of 'I think I forgot to check the stove, what if I left it on and it leaks gas and I die or it blows up?' The best way I can explain it to someone who doesn't have it, is think of a time you had the urge to do something you shouldn't and tried fighting it. Or better yet, pretend your family would die if you think about a green elephant...Now don't think about that green elephant.

@mcamoran Try living with it, then see how invented it is. Plus, it was around before medications. Read some Shakespeare, there are some characters with OCD tendencies in it.

Another thing to consider. Vitamin deficiency. Vitamin B1 (Thiamine) & Vitamin B12 (Cobalamin) both help memory.
Vitamin B1 deficiency can lead to weakness, nervous failure, dementia, anxiety, depression, and death.
Vitamin B12 deficiency can lead to tingling or numbness in fingers & toes, difficulty walking, mood changes or depression, memory loss, disorientation, & dementia.
"Immediate forgetfulness" is not OCD, but serious memory problems which may have many causes besides lacking vitamins.

After doing all this, place the 7 pieces of paper in prominent locations around your home where your eyes will view this message often. This is also important as you will forget the messages to yourself are there, why they are there, and you'll forget if you are currently being treated for your memory disorder. Write the date on these papers so that if you need to update them, you default to the newest one and update the rest.
The most important person you can ever control is yourself.

Also, since your problem is not so much found in the compulsive time-wasting checking & re-checking actions, but a SERIOUS MEMORY PROBLEM. In big letters using a permanent marker with a wide tip write at least 7 times, "I have a MEMORY PROBLEM (probably ALZHEIMER'S DISORDER), I need to go to a doctor for treatment. This is scary, but has to be done. If I already have memory-improving medication then I am currently being treated (write dosage schedule on paper)."

Self-Confidence is eroded by cold hard reality slapping you in the face like a cold wet fish after you have discovered a self-created mistake. In order to have instantly forgotten actions to create instinctual action-related forgetfulness-paranoia, then you would have forgotten to turn the stove off & discovered it later & reacted in horror. Again, this is not Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, but PREMATURE ALZHEIMER'S DISORDER & serious growing memory issues. Write this down, you will forget it.
I'm glad to see that most OCD sufferers have no problems with, and actually seem to like, this video. Since it ended up being one of my most watched videos, I thought I'd belatedly explain that OCD didn't really figure into the making of this at all. I had a scene where there were some funny reaction shots and the only conceivable "action," or cause for their looks, was to have the door open and close repeatedly. To explain that, and give the video a title, I inserted the OCD "storyline."
