The outside world is more real because, like it said in the video, once you see the outside world you can tell that the shadows in the cave are governed by the forces of the outside world. It is not a matter of what it real or not; obviously both the shadows and the outside are real. The point is that if you only know the shadows, then you are unaware of what is behind their function, and you are unaware of the broader scope of the world.

What allegory really means (in Plato sense) is beyond common mundande world all together.. alltough the allegory can be used for many things. Anyway, I doubt we gonna have constructive philosophical discurse about ideas of beauty, justice and ultimate good.

Well,it is right to accept the regular education to play in the game, but the allegory is ,I think mostly, about not being indoctrinated and see the reality, the bigger reality, think outside of the box and such like these :/

Yes they do. I wouldn't say the brain is being washed or anything. You know it's very easy to justify your failures in life later by taking stance "they washed my brains". Sort of takes away all the responsibility for your own inaction. Anyway, there are places where things might be better. In school people are sort of "prepered" for regular carrier path. The only problem I have with this, I think youngesters should be teached of other paths and creativity as well.

Illusion, thinking it is reality, takes reality for illusion.
