Blade Runner - TEARS IN RAIN [Hi-Res Video]

The line "like tears in rain" was never scripted. Rutger Hauer just said that while filming. It became one of the most famous scenes in movie history.

I like this scene for two big reasons.

Batty's monologue refers back to when his maker talked about memories as the missing component for controllable emotions. He considers the loss of his experiences and the memories of them as "death", when people think replicants are just robots that stop functioning.

Plus it's a great example of the film noir/sci-fi mix that Blade Runner accomplishes. There's a lot of emotion behind the words even if he never fully expresses it.

Great scene.

@verziehen I never said Harrison Ford was crap in this movie not for a second I just said Hauer was more prominent in his role as Batty in this film as opposed to Ford portraying Deckard but Ford was still amazing too but Hauer was even more so

What rubbish. Harrison Ford was equally brilliant in his role. Both were superlative performances.

Such a captivating, mesmerising and prolific performance by Hauer in Blade Runner he ousts Ford in this film by 1 million miles, people these days don't appreciate true art and talent and this guy had it, still undoubtedly the best Sci Fi film of all time and a timeless classic.

Take a bow Rutger Hauer.
