Technology codes our minds, changes our OS. Apple products have done this extensively. The video shows how magazines are now useless and impossible to understand, for digital natives. It shows real life clip of a 1-year old, growing among touch screens and print. And how the latter becomes irrelevant. Medium is message. Humble tribute to Steve Jobs, by the most important person : a baby.

To be fair, she's also holding everything upside down, so perhaps her utility as a UI evaluator is limited.

I think it's funny how folks keep trying to assign normal baby/toddler behavior to some fabulous technology shift - my kids both interacted with books/magazines in the same manner before the IPAD ever existed! Baby have always used their thumb and finger to touch and grab things in front of them.

what? she's literally poking/pinching/swiping as you would the ipad. she's not just using her thumb and finger to touch and grab the pages.

No, they do not 'have the Internet on them'. They can connect to the Internet, but they are not the Internet and they do not 'have' the Internet. The suggestion that she is 'now a part of the internet' is ridiculous since she is not a server which is distributing data to clients. An image of her is stored on a server somewhere but it will not be there forever and almost certainly not for the rest of her life.

I think a lot of people has misinterpreted this video - she's not saying it's a bad thing and the nod to Steve Jobs is tongue in cheek.

As with all things in life from birth, balance is everything. There is nothing wrong with digital media being used by young children as long as it is not used to the exclusion of everything else.

I for one would prefer half an hour of 'iPad time' than half an hour of TV

Why don't you take the iPad away and give her a book then?

Or did she go out and buy it herself?

All technology changes how our minds work. The invention of print changed our minds hundreds of years ago. Printed matter and books were once a new technology that scared and confused the world.

This video is a pointless exercise in... in... in nothing. One year olds are influenced by what YOU put in front of them.

Steve Jobs didn't code her OS -

    YOU DID.

Last time i checked, infants don't read magazines. Also, why on Earth would you give an infant an iPad to play with (at all really? so wrong) and then complain about what Steve Jobs has done to her? Clearly you are the one to blame here.

Only when she grows up there will be no magazines, so yes, she will remain so for the rest of her life
