    I was Eleven years old in 1961 and fell in love with this song! It still is AWESOME! I was working in a place that built computers back THIRTEEN YEARS AGO OR SO! ONE TIME DURING MY 12 HOUR SHIFT, A VERY STRANGE THING OCCURRED! MANY WORKERS HAD BROUGHT BOOM BOXES AND AMAZINGLY< THEY ALL WERE ON THE SAME RADIO STATION! THE SONG " THE LION SLEEPS TONIGHT" CAME ON! EVERYONE TURNED THE SONG UP LOUDLY! WHOLE PLACE STARTED SINGING ALONG! IT WAS MAGICAL! IT WAS A MOMENT IN TIME SO VERY SPECIAL, RARE

    I was also 11 in 1961. I remember it was lunch hour in the 7th grade and we had a record player. Some 8th grade girls got hold on it and played this song and they were in absolute and eternal ecstasy listening to it. 52 years later I can see it in my mind...
