If dude was smart, he would have auctioned the tv or sold it as memorabilia after it was destroyed. Guarantee you some Saints fan would have shelled out 5X what the TV was worth before it was shot up. DLPs are old school anyway. You can get a 60in LCD or LED for dirt cheap nowadays.
