One of the most influential judges of the 20th century, former Master of the Rolls, Lord Bingham makes the case for the rule of law as the foundation of a fair and just society.

  • Can't believe the way Shami shakes her head at Lord Bingham during the discussion, he's probably one of the most intelligent men of our time and without doubt is a giant of the 20th/21st Century in the law and therfore he knows the law inside out. Then again he defends himself brillantly with a great come back in his response and puts Shami's and anyone elses doubts of his views to sleep. R.I.P Lord Thomas Bingham ! His life was ended at 76 but his work will be immortal !

  • I was sorry to learn that Thomas Bingham died in September 2010, it`s a great shame that the mind & character on display in this speech & discussion is no longer in this world to contribute to it.

Funny enough I disagree with much of what he said as being philosophically unsound in its view of the interaction between law & state, but that doesn`t reduce my respect for its proponent.
