Every "life choice's" impact on the future is potentiated by the passing of time. Good decisions, prevent damage in the future, often translating into interest bearing rewards. Bad decisions lead to more bad decisions or have consequences that last. Every minute, day, year that passes creates lost earning potential. A criminal record can haunt job prospects. It's all fun n games til you're laying in your own piss in an alley begging for nickels to buy your next bottle of Steel Reserve.

I disagree, I never really saw it like that, I always saw it as a thing of living in moment and making that decision when the time comes. Besides, they are in freaking high school, plus also I rarely see people map out plans from high school and end up in the same field. Things change in life, you find new people and new interests.
