It would seem to me that perfect pitch could be developed (of course I may be wrong). What is more amazing to me - but not to others - is the fact that we are capable of matching pitches so easily. This means that when we hear a pitch, we can respond, not with a name of a note, but with an exact flexion of the vocal muscles. This seems like it would be harder to do.

MUSICIANS WITH PERFECT PIRCH CAN RECOGNISE WHICH KEY THE ORCHESTRA IS PLAYING IN.
GEORGE ROBERTS THE WORLDS GREATEST BASS TROMBONIST HAS PERFECT PITCH PLUS A WONDERFUL SOUND AND A GIFT FOR MUSICAL EXPRESSION,LISTEN TO GEORGE FOR PROOF!
One can NOT be trained in absolute pitch later in life, most likely after a critical period required for acquisition that occurs early in life.

TonePitch, I question your sources.

Hi,
Why do you think like that. Sound is like color, it has a frequence wave. You may learn the name of color you see even later in life just as you make learn the name of the sound you hear even later in life.

so do you have perfect pitch? is this how you developed it? if so, how long did it take you? im willing to practice consistently

@pancakeman999
I do not have perfect pitch because its not really what I was aiming, so I do not practice to obtain it. My goal when I created the program was only to help me understand music by ear, at first I was unable to know if a note played was a "C" or an "A" for example. To me an "A" and an "A" one octave higher or lower sounded completely different and I couldn't hear them to be equal in harmonic frequencies.

I learned to recognize some pitches and it progressed but it was not practical. you may gain it to some degree but when asked to produce the pitch I was never able to. also reproducing a melody using pitch does not work unless you were born with perfect pitch. Most people think in scale/intervals/distances. its not the same

@TellPod
But once you understand colors you dont have to know the names of all colors to be able to compare one color to an other to know if they are the same or not. This is what you will be able to do once your perfect pitch is well tuned... know when a tone is equal to your reference.
