I'm educated enough to know that large hydro powerplants such as Hoover Dam are not classified as renewable sources of energy - they are conventional ones, because of the fact that you have to create a big lake, you have to change the eco-system, move lots of people, take responsibility for the anadromous species of fish [such as salmon] - that's why large hydro power plants cannot be considered to be 'green' energy. Study the case of the 3Gorges Dam in China - theyre dealin wit lots of problems

A good deal of it is hydroelectric...maybe you should study the power grid a bit.

Incidentally I.C. cars are worth about a trillion dollars a year in replacement engine parts due to wear ( which you don't get with electric engines). Who killed the electric car? Work it out for your effingself.

You have to learn something about technology before you comment on topics you do not understand - electric vehicle parts wear out as good as IC cars (bearings, brushes, everyhing in suspension). Also the electic cars must be cleaned and lubricated using solvents and other chemicals. Electric cars also have a lot of other problems - ( galvanic corrosion , loss of contact , shorts , loss of battery capacity ) and safety issues ( electric shocks, acid burns , posionous gases etc ).

Ever heard of Brushless electric motors? What would be the point of having a computer controlled dinosaur electric motor with brushes? Lithium Iron batteries have no acid or poisonous gasses. Electric motors have three moving parts, the rotor & two bearings an Internal conbustion has hundreds. An electric car only needs a very simple transmission with no need to change gears as the engine can work over a hugh range of RPMs unlike an ICE.
You should learn something before commenting!

The U.S pres has pledged 2.4 bill for EV research and there are experimental batteries ~ approx 10x better than Li-Ion. Check out supercapacitors and regenerative braking, perfect for city driving. The potential energy efficiency makes I.C. engines distinctly caveman. So yes, cars can run on renewables like wind. I haven't got one yet because the corporations haven't built them yet. But you and I will drive one one day because they will be incredibly powerful. Can't wait.
