How could I have a Neil Sedaka channel going WITHOUT this 1961 classic? The story goes that Neil Sedaka and his partner Howard Greenfield were chatting one day, and Howie quipped that they were having such success that they could write "Happy Birthday" and make a hit of it. Neil seized on the idea and recorded this song supposedly as a tribute to Annette Funicello. The song skyrocketed to #6 on the Billboard charts and claimed a place on Sedaka's Greatest Hits album in 1963. Enjoy!
