  • can somebody please tell me who was the first person who came up w/ this song was it dolly parton or jeanie c riley will appriciate this very much

  • It was JEANNIE C. RILEY. She was the one that made the Tom T. Hall song a multi-million selling song. she won the Grammy and CMA Award, plus several Gold Records for her recording of "Harper Valley P.T.A.". Artists like Dolly, Loretta to Billy Ray Cyrus and Martina McBride and many, many others, recorded "Harper Valley P.T.A." as cuts on their albums because they liked the song, but JEANNIE C. RILEY is the one that brought the song to life and put her stamp on the song for music history.

  • great storytune

  • She was an instant success over night with this song. One of the

most popular songs of that era. Was 1968 as I was headed to

start my 1800 hours of Gunsmith training. There were many

    great songs during that era.

  • such a strong voice

  • Sounds like our hometown PTA.
