Ghost Riders in the Sky-Lyrics:

An old cowboy went riding out one dark and windy day
Upon a ridge he rested as he went along his way
When all at once a mighty herd of red-eyed steers he saw
A'plowin' through the ragged skies and up a cloudy draw

Their brands were still on fire and their hooves were made of steel
Their horns were black and shiny and their hot breath he could feel
A bolt of fear went through him as they thundered through the sky
He saw the riders comin' hard,
Heard their mournful cry

Yi-pi-yi-ay, Yi-pi-yi-o
Ghost riders in, ghost riders in the sky

Yi-pi-yi-ay, Yi-pi-yi-ay, Yi-pi-yi-o, Yi-pi-yi-o
Ghost riders in the sky

Their faces gaunt, their eyes were blurred, their shirts all soaked with sweat
They're ridin' hard to catch the herd but they ain't caught it yet
For they've got to ride forever on that range up in the sky
On horses snortin' fire, as they ride on hear their cry

Yi-pi-yi-ay, Yi-pi-yi-o
Ghost riders in, ghost riders in the sky
Ghost riders in the sky

  • CLASSIC

  • I had the out laws t shirt with snakes on it back in the late 70's or early 80's, this is the first time that I have heard theri music in decades.

  • @cglawrence Their are many folk who were born during the rage of Viet Nam and probably grew to dig the music of their time which in the mid '70 these guys were fading out, in radio play and Donna Summer began kickin. I was there for it all. I miss these guys, MTB, CDB, Outlaws, 38 special, Kansas and many more I can't remember right now. Hey, the fact is brother, you found them now, and that's what counts.

  • @JamesDOShea Now there was a bitchin tune for sure...Good call!

  • I fucking hate the fact that I have been around for 40 years on this rock, and just only now found these guys. Holy shit am I pissed.

  • @JamesDOShea lol. I was wondering the same thing!

  • My father has this recorded by frankie laine. It is very cheesy. An album of western movie themes.

  • Best version of Ghost Riders. Their sound has the full effect.

  • The first version I heard was by the Sons of the Pioneers. The came Johnny Cash and then others. All of the versions have there own unique version. Some of the words were changed from the original release by Sons of the Pioneers.
