Ein Werbefilm für das Cabinentaxi. Eines der interessantesten ÖPNV Systeme. Leider nie wirklich umgesetzt.

For those who may be interested:
A while ago, I composed some modest web-pages about the history of this interesting but so far unlucky means of transportation. Also included are some drawings showing the principle of the control system:

trail+yoll+net/zola/transport/ cabinentaxi

(Nite: Replace "+" with "." in the above links, because comments including links are not accepted by youtube...)

Now these are some pretty stilts! Wouldn't you just love to have some of these in front of your house? Well - I'll stick to my bike.

Cabintaxi technology is a mass transit system with a capacity on the two/way beam shown of 28,000 seats/hour. Not a concept: completed under the review of German Railroad safety experts - accepted by Germany and the United States for installation in their cities.
Real transit systems, meant to serve urban areas, not suburban sprawl, provide mobility to thousands per hour - home to work, to store, to.., etc.
The bicycle is elegant, but think about a street carrying 28,000 bicycles p/h.

When the track in Vorhalle was stopped, some of the vehicles were given over for "gartenhauschen." With their aluminum frames they may still be found. All of the pictures that you see of urban settings taken from within the vehicles are of Wuppertal. The street scenes are from downtown Wetter.

While the system may have been ahead of its time, its time will probably still come, as nothing that has been conceived to date surpasses this completed system.
