Misspelling "Windows Phone" Makes Google Maps Work

As of January 5, 2013 Google Maps doesn't load on my Windows Phone 8 device. Google has stated:

The mobile web version of Google Maps is optimized for WebKit browsers such as Chrome and Safari. However, since Internet Explorer is not a WebKit browser, Windows Phone devices are not able to access Google Maps for the mobile web.

I thought this was weird so I did a short experiment to see if that was true. Watch the video..

frankly I can't fault a service from shooing away an 'up to no good' sub-standard browser from displaying content incompetently.

tough luck: probably going to have to use bing maps or buy a physical GPS if you are still using Microsoft devices in this time and age....
