Badfinger finished recording its third album with Geoff Emerick as producer; however the album was rejected by Apple. George Harrison then took over as producer in spring of 1971. Harrison later pulled out of the project due to his Bangladesh commitments and the album was then completed by Todd Rundgren. "Straight Up" was released in the U.S. in December 1971 and spawned two successful singles: "Day After Day" (Billboard #4) and "Baby Blue" (#14). The album reached #31. It included some uncredited special guest appearances from George Harrison, Leon Russell and Klaus Voormann.

Were they all heavy drinkers? Mike died young, i didn't know of what? Joey tips one back from time to time, he's now in poor health. Of course Kathie is now gone. Badfinger seemed more into drink than pot or acid. Badfinger's fortunes or luck would have been quite a good reason to drink, so i can't blame them.
All I know from the book Pete and Tom were the worst. I think Mike had some disease not associated with chemicals. Too bad for them all, they were super.
I read a post in here stating that Joey obtained the rights to all of the royalties through some slick maneuvering. Good for his part I suppose but bad for the families of the other lads.
Today's musicians, will be lucky if their music, money or images last as long as this band's has, 37 years and counting. That is thr true testament of talent and soul.
Brilliant.... of course cut live! Great song writing... great chords..... and of course the singing is awesome. Great to here 2 SG's playing so nicely together. So nice to hear some "breathing room" in the song. This is a rock song at its BEST!
