Did bilbo baggins really get all this story line in the books? Everything here sounds like he means Frodo
LoungeFly02 1 month ago
@LoungeFly02 The Hobbit was about Bilbo's journey with Gandalf & some dwarves (they were going to take the dwarves' gold back from a dragon), along the way Bilbo happened to win a magic ring from Gollum in a riddle contest.

@SputnikMonkey ah thanks for clearing that up. I never read the LOTR books

@LoungeFly02 My pleasure! If you enjoy reading that kind of books at all, then The Hobbit is pretty awesome (of course, some people don't enjoy reading or enjoy that kind of book, and that's just fine too).

@SputnikMonkey Why did Gollum give up the ring in a riddle contest? Gollum loves the ring, why would he give it up?

@DWest174 You're right! I'd actually forgotten when I made my previous comment, but you reminded me that Bilbo doesn't actually win the ring from Gollum. The riddle contest is to prevent Gollum from eating him. He finds the ring in Gollum's cave, since the ring kind of has a will of its own, it's trying to escape from Gollum to get back to its master.
