It is very strange to me how on the videos for this speech and for Charlie Chaplin's speech from the Great Dictator there are several comments glorifying Ron Paul. I personally have nothing against him but seeing as these speeches are about not buying into and blindly following the image of a leader, these comments strike me as strange. He is just a person and words are not actions.

I think you have 3 problems:

1) You don't know Ron Paul's positions and just parrot what other paulbots say instead of looking at what discriminatory laws he voted for (like DOMA) or what ridiculous crap he said (like the sodomy laws).

2) You don't realize the implications of some of his positions (like capitalism run amok).

3) You have to much faith in a worthless piece of paper and a bunch of greedy people in power.

On top of that, it doesn't do anything. No one has cared about the Constitution since the day it was written. Not even Washington gave a fuck when he send the militia to strike down the Whiskey Rebellion. You think they are going to start caring now?

The Constitution isn't worth the paper it's written on. You need to defend your liberties, not the government or some ancient paper.

Constitutionalism is ridiculous. Like Lysander Spooner said, the Constitution has either created hundreds of years of tyranny or has been been unable to prevent it. It's a piece of paper, an ancient document. Ron Paul acts like it's the perfect guide. It's not. It was written by a bunch of white slave-owning male landowners, which is who it was written for. it has been amended before, for good reason. It's not a static document ans we shouldn't treat like it's a monolithical guide.

No he isn't. He's for states rights. He said it was ok for states to pass sodomy laws, he says it's ok for states to use the death penalty, etc. On top of that he voted for DOMA, DADT and proposed SOLA. Civil liberties, my ass. If you can't fuck the way want, can't love a person of the same sex and be open about it without the state discriminating against you, aren't free to have IVF or have an early term abortion and the state can still fuck you over backwards, how free are you?
