Not one shred of evidence it's a Helix jobsite??? The sign on the gate reads, "This gate is reserved for HELIX ELECTRIC ONLY" . The project is called Meridian Place Apartment Homes and is located at 9423 Reseda Blvd in Northridge, California 91324.

Additionally, there is not one shred of evidence that indicates the unprotected opening shown in this video is a Helix jobsite. Furthermore, the fire referenced in the video, as reported in the LA Times was started by the welders, not the electricians.
Accordingly, the suggestion that Helix is somehow responsible for starting that fire is patently false, intentionally misleading, blatantly defamatory and the public showing and distribution of this video on 'YouTube' is the height of irresponsibility. At Helix, we strive to ensure our employees return home in the same shape as when they left for work! Arthur Geller Vice President Helix Electric San Diego |

This is a grossly inappropriate and factually inaccurate video. This video purports to show former employees of Helix Electric criticizing the organization for safety.
However, it is a well documented fact that Helix Electric is one of the safest electrical contractors in the nation, with an Experience Modification Factor or "Ex Mod" of .60, which by any objective measure, illustrates a safety program that is incredibly effective in preventing injuries. |

I currently work at Helix Electric they have one of the safest environments I have ever worked in. They are constantly talking safety and I think their safety program is one of the best in the nation. They have very few injuries and are always offering safety training.
The welders started that fire, not the electricians. Whoever posted this video is a liar. Even the LA Times reported the fire was started by the Welders. Helix did not start that fire! Helix is the safest company I have ever worked for. |

This is a ridiculous video! I used to work at Helix Electric and can tell you they have one of the most stringent and focused safety programs in existence. We had safety meetings twice weekly and were always talking about potential hazards on the jobsite. The contractor I work for now doesn't come close to Helix when it comes to safety. I think this video is a production of the IBEW union, who has tried to organize Helix for the past 20 years.
Helix is a great company, pays good wages and offers excellent safety training to their people. I would come back to Helix in a second if they asked me back. Don't believe this video! |

There is no excuse for that opening on the sidewalk. But I worked for Helix for several years, and I don' t think this video is an accurate representation of the entire company. My jobs were always run with safety in mind, and any resource I needed was provided for.
If you want to get killed on the job, go work for Perrini! |

I worked for them and am at a competitor now. I always thought the safety program was good. I mean they have a experience modification factor of .60! That's insane.
To those who don't know, insurance premiums are reduced or increased based on the ex mod. Ex Mod of 1.00 means no increase or reduction based on safety record. So, if Helix has such a horrible safety record, why would the insurance company give them a 40% reduction????? Perhaps this is just a disgruntled employee who wasn't performing well in the first place. |

Good job by the cameraman. The unprotected opening is amazing and really unbelievable that construction workers let alone the public can walk so close with no barricades.
