World Music And Dance Festival, Hakodate

For one week in summer. For 30,000 people. Worlds meet in Japan. 

From around the globe, music, dance, visual arts, street performers, goods, gourmet and more. Hakodate hosts one of Japan's largest and most international music festivals. We aim to be Japan's first and foremost festival focussed on regularly bringing large numbers of overseas performers to the country.

Corona made international events difficult in 2020 & 2021, but we tried some of the creative activities you see on this channel. We returned with a three-day event in 2022, then with a 5-day in 2023. 

WMDF accepts applications on a rolling basis all year-round, with a deadline of Oct 20 for attending the following year’s Festival. Already recruiting for 2024!
