been playing for 4 years now (started April 2007)
started on ddr, worked my up primarily on mario mix lol
got into itg after I'd been playing for about a year and a half. I really started to prefer it over ddr once I got into customs and trying to pass harder songs. I really don't play ddr much at all these days because home version is so pointless, but I would if there was a machine nearby. There used to be a decent extreme cab here but it's gone as of novemeber 2011.
I play hacked versions of itgps2 at home. openitg would be so much easier, but I just happened to get into these custom discs, and it ended up being what I play. I think it's pretty cool though.
After a few months of playing, I discovered good players on youtube and instantly aspired to be one of them. For a couple years, that was what motivated me to play. But I have realized with my level of improvement, and the skill level of the good players, I can never be that good. Because of this I have lost a considerable amount of interest in these games, but I definitely will continue to play them.
In fall 2012 I will begin college at UNC Charlotte, which is in one of the two decent areas in NC for dance games. Within ~30 minutes of the campus is a hacked itg2 with good pads, and a megamix in very good condition. I will play as much as I can on those machines when I get there :D
