"I play the guitar because it lets me dream out loud." - Michael Hedges

Michael Hedges (December 31, 1953 -- December 2, 1997) was an American acoustic guitarist born in Sacramento, CA and raised in Enid, Oklahoma. Hedges was a Peabody Conservatory composition major who applied his classically trained musical background in combination with various unusual techniques to the steel-string acoustic guitar. He covered a wide range of musical styles and was considered an extremely dynamic performer in concert. He saw himself as a composer who played guitar, rather than a guitarist who composed music.

Thanks very much for posting all the obscure stuff I haven't been able to find anywhere else. I wanted to ask you..when you post the tunings, I don't know what you mean by the numbers. I understand the strings, but when you post 2, 3, etc. what does that tell me? thanks for your time.

Thank you Thank you Thank You!!
I was able to see Michael Live in Orlando, Fl a year before he died. I know there is no video but a local radio station (WMFE?) broadcast the show. I wonder if anyone has a copy of that recording? I just can't get enough of Hedges' material. Thanks to you, we still get to see him "for the first time!" with these videos.

The first time I ever heard a Michael Hedges tune was in '94, front row center stage at Variety Playhouse in Atlanta. The first tune he played was Rickover's Dream (my favorite tune now!). First time hearing....first time seeing! You can imagine what my face must have looked like.

I really miss this guy.

Every couple of months I go into Hedges overdrive mode, and compulsively watch every single video you've posted. What can I say? Than you so much for being such a religious Hedges-nut :D
