Over the past 17 years, while growing both a business and family in Louisville, Tyler has served on the boards of many non-profit organizations, including The Healing Place, the American Red Cross Louisville Area Chapter (Chair 2005-2007), the University of Louisville Board of Overseers, and the Mayors Public Art Committee (Chair 2004-2008). He currently serves on the Presbyterian Seminary Board of Trustees, the Kentucky Center for African-American Heritage Board of Directors, the Louisville Science Center, and the Center for Interfaith Relations. He is a member of the Downtown Rotary Club, and in 2001 he was honored as one of Business Firsts 40 under 40. Tyler is a graduate of Leadership Louisville Class of 2003.

In 2005, Tyler began speaking with community leaders about his vision for a cost-effective and forward-thinking alternative to the Ohio River Bridges Project, ultimately co-founding 8664. Over the past four and a half years, Tyler has met with citizens representing all parts of metropolitan Louisville to generate conversation about an innovative future for our city. Even in the face of considerable opposition from the newspaper, the mayor, and special interests, Tyler has continued to champion balanced, common sense solutions for community transportation needs and, more broadly, a new way of thinking about Louisville's future.

Louisville needs leadership with vision and a willingness to explore questions that others are afraid to ask. Rather than accept the way things are, Tyler Allen has never been afraid to take courageous stands and encourage bold, creative thinking that will make our community the best that it can possibly be.
