Our Injection Molding Basics series provides participants with a general understanding of the three major aspects of injection molding; the injection molding machine, the molding process, and the injection mold. These programs use 3D animation to demonstrate the inner workings of the machine and mold and to easily convey otherwise complex concepts. Important safety precautions are stressed throughout these training programs. The first clip (taken from the first program, "Machine") covers the Modes of Operation of the injection molding machine: manual mode (including set-up or mold set option), semi-automatic mode and automatic mode. "Material Preparation" is excerpted from the the second program, "Process", and discusses the mixing of plastic material and additives (such as impact modifiers, fillers, flame retardants, mold release agents, plasticizers, reinforcements, heat stabilizers, lubricants and colorants), using dessicant dryers for material drying and dew meters for measuring the moisture content of a plastic material.
