About Restricted Code
After all these years I still get emails from people who remember me as a member of Restricted Code, a Scottish "new wave" band, and asking if I have recordings of the singles that were released or the radio sessions that were recorded. So, as a recording engineer called Michael Train from New York had been in touch recently and remastered the original tracks, I thought it would be good to make them available through YouTube, along with record sleeves and a few photos of the band. Restricted Code burned reasonably brightly from 1978 - 1981. Started by schoolfriends from Easterhouse, Glasgow, Tom Cannavan (vocals) and Frank Quadrelli (guitar), the band recruited Kenny Blythe on bass and Rob McCormick on drums, later to be replaced by Steve Lironi. Restricted Code released one EP and two singles, on the Pop:Aural label of Bob Last. They recorded sessions for John Peel and Richard Skinner on Radio 1, and toured the UK and continent.
