I AM THE PRODUCT OF A SINGLE PARENT HOUSEHOLD, THE MOTHER OF THREE THAT WORKED FULL TIME , TOOK CARE OF HER PARENTS & WENT TO SCHOOL AT THE SAME TIME. I AM A SURVIVOR OF CHILDHOOD SEXUAL ABUSE AT THE HANDS OF TWO BABYSITTERS (BOTH FAMILY "FRIENDS" & 1 CATHOLIC PRIEST AT THE CATHOLIC SCHOOL THAT I ATTENDED. I WAS NOT ABLE TO CONFRONT & MAKE PEACE WITH MY SEXUAL ABUSE UNTIL I REACHED ADULTHOOD. I NEVER TOLD MY MOTHER ABOUT MY ABUSE UNTIL I WAS 33 YEARS OLD.
BECAUSE I COULD NEVER FIND THE HELPTHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR..... COMING FROM SOMEONE THAT LOOKED LIKE ME, SPOKE LIKE ME, & THAT RELATED TO LIFE LIKE ME ..... I DECIDED TO BECOME THE HELP THAT I WAS LOOKING FOR. MY GOAL IS TO EXPLORE & EXSPOSE ALL OF THE ISSUES & CONDITIONS RELATED TO & ASSOCIATED WITH SEXUAL ABUSE THAT MANY PEOPLE OF COLOR DEALS WITH A WIDE VARIETY OF SUBJECT MATTER CONNECTED TO THE ISSUE OF SEXUAL ABUSE SUCH AS : PHYSICAL ABUSE, MENTAL ABUSE, RAPE & MOLESTATION, INCEST EXPERIENCED BY BOYS / MEN IN THE AFRICAN AMERICAN COMMUNITY EVERYDAY. THIS IS A SERIOUS SUBJECT MATTER THAT MANY IN & OUTSIDE OF OUR COMMUNITIES WOULD RATHER NOT ADDRESS, NOR HAS THERE EVER BEEN A SUITABLE FORUM PRESENTED FOR SUCH A TOPIC TO BE DISCUSSED. AS A SURVIVOR OF SEXUAL ABUSE I COVER AS MANY ISSUES THAT I HAVE ENCOUNTERED IN MY PERSONAL LIFE AS WELL AS THOSE THAT APPEAR IN THE NEWS.
