About surtarang11's channel

Mr & Mrs Sarcar launched the Surtarang radio show in April 2007 on WCR FM - the Voice of Wolverhampton on 101.8. Since April 2010 WCR has been known as the Wolverhampton City Radio [WCR] 101.8 FM. Surtarang is broadcasted between 7 and 8 pm every Wednesday.
Surtarang presents the very best of Indian Classical Music, both Hindustani & Carnatic by featuring the most popular and legendary musicians and also providing a platform for talented and budding young artists. In order to present some of the tracks by various musicians, the youtube channel 'surtarang11' was started recently, on 9th November 2011 by Mr. & Mrs. Sarcar.
Mrs.Gnana Prasuna, a musician and a teacher, has been providing support to Mrs. Maitreyee Sarcar in creating the youtube clips.

Mr.Sistachar Sarcar, HF founded Surtarang in April 2007 and has been producing, as well as presenting it, along with his wife, Mrs Maitreyee Sarcar HF FRSA. Mr.Sistachar Sarcar, also a former fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, received the Honorary Fellowship of the University of Wolverhampton along with his wife in 2002 for his outstanding voluntary contributions to the arts through his work as the founder and Chief Executive [CE] of Surdhwani.
At the kind invitation of Wolverhampton Community Radio - Voice of Wolverhampton, Mr & Mrs Sarcar launched the Surtarang radio show in April 2007 on WCR FM - the Voice of Wolverhampton on 101.8.
Since April 2010 WCR has been known as the Wolverhampton City Radio [WCR] 101.8 FM. Surtarang is broadcasted between 7 and 8 pm every Wednesday.
WCR was formed primarily for the benefit of the people of Wolverhampton but it is also available to the people in areas surrounding the city as well as to people all over the world via the Internet (www.wcrfm.com). Initially they did it on behalf of Surdhwani, but at present they are doing it totally independently.
It is a husband and wife initiative. Mr.Sarcar looks after the production, in particular the technical aspects of Surtarang, while Mrs.Sarcar looks after the administration e.g. marketing and publicity through emails, Facebook, LinkedIn, My Space, Indian Kalakar, Google+, Shtyle.fm and Orkut etc.
Mrs Maitreyee Sarcar is the Co-Founder, Founding Secretary, first Life Member, First Patron Member, former General Secretary, former Director & Company Secretary of Surdhwani.
Mrs.Maitreyee Sarcar has been the Co-Producer and Co-Presenter of Surtarang [Waves of Melody] Broadcast since 4 April 2007 to date via www.wcrfm.com
She was elected an FRSA [Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts] for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures & Commerce in December 2005; She is also a former director of the Newhampton Arts Centre in Wolverhampton. Maitreyee received "Glory of India" Award from the IIFS (Indian International Friendship Society) in recognition of her excellence in being proactive and instrumental in strengthening the Indo-British ties in June 2008.
Nominated as a "Woman of the Year 2008" for her outstanding cultural work for over 21 years, in October 2008. She attended the Celebration at the famous Guild Hall, London.
Maitreyee was selected for the "Gem of India Award" & Certificate of Excellence, from IIFS in May 2009.
She was also nominated as an "Ambassador of Peace" by United Minds for Peace Society [UMFPS]; and was appointed as an Executive Committee member of UMFPS, UK, in May 2009. On 14 Feb 2010 @ Kalamandir, Kolkata, Maitreyee received the "World Peace Music Promoter Award" for her significant contributions in promoting Indian classical music in the European countries. Her efforts have been cited as an illustrious contribution towards World Peace through Music over the last thirty years.
In June 2010 IIFS (INDIA INTERNATIONAL FRIENDSHIP SOCIETY) had selected Mrs Maitreyee Sarcar HF FRSA for the "Global Indian Achievers Award" & Certificate of Excellence. Presently, she is also involved in the production of the surtarang11 You Tube clips, blogs, playlists and updating details on various websites and informing the public via her usual marketing tools, such as Facebook [FB], emails, Google+, LinkedIn, Twitter, My Space, Indian Kalakar, Orkut, Shtyle.fm and the like.
