- Nitrogen is a divers nemesis. At depth, under the pressure of the water around him, it builds up in his tissues. Like a slow anesthesia, the gas can render the diver drunk from nitrogen narcosis. More seriously, if a diver resurfaces too quickly, the nitrogen can form bubbles that lodge in joints, organs or blood vessels, causing permanent injury and even death. The solution: a recompression chamber where the diver can be returned slowly to sea-level pressure as his lungs exhale the excess gas.
- L'azote est un fléau pour le plongeur. En profondeur, sous la pression qui s'exerce sur lui, l'azote s'accumule dans ses tissus. Le plongeur peut ressentir une sorte d'ivresse due à l'excès d'azote appelée narcose à l'azote ou ivresse des profondeurs, qui agit comme une lente anesthésie. Mais il y a plus grave : si un plongeur refait surface trop rapidement, l'azote peut former des bulles qui se logent dans les articulations, les organes ou les vaisseaux sanguins, ce qui peut entraîner une invalidité permanente, voire la mort. La solution : un caisson de décompression où le plongeur est doucement ramené à la pression atmosphérique au niveau de la mer pour que l'excès d'azote présent dans son sang puisse être éliminé à un rythme tolérable par l'organisme.

Created in partnership with MTV Europe producer/director Jon Klein, Buzz was an ambitious 13-part global series commissioned by MTV and channel 4 (UK).
