Is there nothing on the external monitors your VGA gateway and the inverter/backlight is damaged, or the mainboard. The cause i guess is the mainboard!

First of all let me say the videos are great!! But I have a Gateway M6309. By looking at the videos I know I can not change my graphics. I want to know before I get a new inverter, is it my motherboard or my backlight that needs to be replaced? I also hooked my laptop up to two different montiors and nothing. All I got was no signal mess. So I am wondering should I just get a new laptop or try to get a new inverter, or is my mainboard damanged? I don't know can someone help.
