You can scan your PC to see if it's able to play the game on the website from the system requirements lab. They've just added the Sims 3 to the games list, so they'll be able to tell you if the game will run smoothly or not. Go check my "Hardware requirements for Sims 3" video to see more info and to see the link for the system requirements lab. (can't post URLs here)

@pokespoon11 Yes they've got almost the same requirements, only Sims 3 needs twice at much RAM as Spore and a bit more processor power if you're using Windows Vista.
