Wildfire Dance Theatre: Mexico (2004) - Part 2 sideburnsbob - 53 views - 1 week ago
After I graduated from high school in 2003 I decided to take some time out to do some sort of service before starting my studies. This was before music had even entered the equation and I was looking to study film.

During the year I traveled to Paris (France) to work in the National Baha'i Centre, Swindon (England) to work in the Baha'i Projects Office, and finally Stratford (Canada) where I joined the Wildfire Dance Theatre. Wildfire is a dance group that focuses on educating communities about social issues through dance, drama and song, traveling extensively throughout Canada, the US and various other nations.

It was during my first tour that the group traveled to Mexico and we spent two weeks performing in schools, social centres and theatres.

This is a short video that I shot and edited during the trip and, after having found it hanging around on my backup drive, decided to share it!

Enjoy!

Having decided to try a response to a video I thought that this might be an interesting one to try ...

Some of my 10 things may seem a little mundane and perhaps other over the top but I will do my best to make these 10 things happen!

1. Grow my hair exceedingly long
2. Play music with Jason Mraz and/or John Mayer
3. Visit Iran & Persepolis*
4. Get married
5. Do a musical tour of Japan
6. Achieve a Black Belt in a martial art
7. Own a husky or wolf as a pet
8. Go paintballing
9. Make my words reflect my actions (and vice versa!)
10. Scuba dive

* Iran will be a tough one as I'm a Bahá'í and the Bahá'í Faith is under terrible persecution there - I sincerely hope the situation improves for all.

Disclaimer: This is by no means trying to take itself seriously :)

So myself a several friends came by a DV camera a few months ago and, having not seen each other for ages and knowing we wouldn't see each other for a while later, decided to have a bit of fun.
Now bear in mind that Koorosh and Pasha actually have martial arts and combat experience - I just like throwing myself around on occasion - so we decided to make a spoof martial arts film for a laugh ...
This is what we made - the end cuts of suddenly because we filmed this as the sun was going down as the light dropped out - we also couldn't think, in the few hours we spent doing this, of a half-decent end for it - so for that I apologise ;)

Enjoy! (at least try haha)

I decided to make a lovely lunch today - too bad that I bought prawns and have no clue how to open them and enjoy their succulent goodness - now I have a stomach ache!

Robert Gillies - Bright November Highway sideburnsbob - 1,106 views - 1 year ago
A song about the simple things that get you through tough times.

I need some room, perhaps a little space to breathe
My heads a mess and add to that my hearts a tease
Oh well, they say at 98 degrees you should be fine, you should be fine

I need some room, perhaps a little space to breathe
My heads a mess and add to that my hearts a tease
Oh well, they say at 98 degrees you should be fine, oh what a waste of expertise

If I could drive along that bright November highway with the windows down
The chill-air bites but I don't mind
If I could drive along that bright November highway I'll be fine, I'll be fine, I'll be fine
And all in good time

Oh what a view if you just take some time to see
Open your eyes I think you'll find it's what you need
Oh well, they say at sixteen hundred feet you'll feel just fine, I guess thats something they got right

If I could drive along that bright November highway with the windows down
The chill-air bites but I don't mind
If I could drive along that bright November highway I'll be fine, I'll be fine, I'll be fine
And all in good time

I'll grab my coat, it's feeling heavy like my heart
Well who's to know if this is only just the start?
Oh well, I'll grab the keys and lock the door, and wave farewell, and wave farewell

If I could drive along that bright November highway with the windows down
The chill-air bites but I don't mind
If I could drive along that bright November highway with the windows down
Oh I, if I could drive along that bright November highway I'll be fine, I'll be fine, I'll be fine, and all in good time

Robert Gillies - John Mayer's Thumb sideburnsbob - 4,052 views - 1 year ago
I was first introduced to John Mayer about 3 years ago and was promptly informed that he was able to play some pretty ridiculous stuff with the aid of his large hands - and so this song was born 2 summers later!

Hey..i've got another question regarding Berklee. Your instrument is acoustic guitar, right? When you take your guitar classes, are they just with acoustic players or do they include electric, too? I was just wondering if acoustic and electric are two totally seperate areas of study. Also, what is your major?
*Btw, I really appreciate you helping me with these questions.
hothead69999 (4 months ago)
Hey man thanks for the reply back.
I'll be sure to ask you any other Berklee-related questions haha.

Hey Robert, glad you like the tunes! Will get some more up before long. Wish I had better recording equipment though. What do you use? I'll get those words up to "Tears of Crimson" before long. I enjoyed listening to your stuff. Good to see/hear you again :)

Hey sorry to bother ya, but I was just wondering if you ever found out how many of those scholarships Berklee hands out?
