The SERPENT* Project uses industrial Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVS) for deep-sea research missions.
Our partnerships with major oil and gas companies as well as the industries that support them allow us to undertake this deep-sea research.
Many other conservation, educational, industrial and governmental groups and partners also help to support and in turn benefit from our work.
We are a global project hosted by the DEEPSEAS group, within Ocean Biogeochemistry and Ecosystems (OBE) at the National Oceanography Centre, Southampton (NOCS). The project has a network of UK and global partners.
*SERPENT stands for 'Scientific and Environmental ROV Partnership using Existing iNdustrial Technology'.
