Deewaaron ko chaat raha hai tanhaaee ka zehr
Door ufaq par ghat-thi bardhti, uth-thi, girti rehti hai
Kuhr ki soorat bay-raunaq, dardon ki gadli lehr

Basta hai us kuhr kay peechhay raushnion ka shehr
Ay raushnion kay shehr
Kaun kahay kis samt [sic] hai tayree raushnion ki raah
Har jaanib baynoor kharee hai hijr ki shehr panaah
Thak kar har soo baith rahee hai shauq ki maand sapah
