Hello Everyone - Thanks for stopping by my youtube page.

My style: I have found that many teachers on YouTube demonstrate how to play rhythms, but in no way make it easy for beginners to learn. I make it simple and fun for you to learn by playing very slow. If you've never played before and have the feeling you want to start; then you've come to the right place.

I believe my teaching concept works well for anyone, especially beginners. Don't worry about going fast right now; that will come later. Beginners always get fired up by seeing percussionists play fast, and then they want to try and replicate what they see and hear. Take your time, practice slow, then, gradually pick up the tempo later.

Key Note: You need to learn tones, then rhythm, then timing, then Clave (really all of these are interchangeable, but the tones should come first). Trust me, if you do this, you'll see the difference in your playing as you develop into a more experienced percussionist.

Why am I sharing all of this with you? For the beginners, I've created videos for you to understand the basic approach to learning how to develop the most important thing to play the congas; as mentioned before, this happens to be the tones. When you begin to develop the sound of the tones with technique, you can then move onto the basic rhythms / first rhythms for beginners like the Bolero.

What level do you play at? I would like to say that my YouTube site is not just for beginners but for intermediate and advanced players too. So everyone enjoy!

The Cuba videos... For many years I dreamed about traveling to Cuba, and in the summer of 2000 I was able to see that dream come true. Today I'm sharing most of my memories, experience, and lessons that I brought back from that wonderful experience.

A word about comments: I decided to turn the comments back on for all of my videos. I had the comments turned off because I couldn't keep up with the spam or negative comments that some vicious You tubers would leave. Let it be known that negative comments in any nature that I feel are rude or derogatory will be deleted promptly.
Also, I'm very selective about what I want to keep from comments on my videos since I try to filter negative from good.

In regards to comments of good nature, I want to personally thank all of you who've commented my videos with nothing more than positive feedback; you're the ones that inspire me to share more.

Finally, I want to say thanks to all of you for the success of my YouTube channel by subscribing to it and for those who haven't yet; you should because you won't be disappointed.

This is my first visit on your page, after you had a look on mine... I read your story and the reason you re sharing all this,..I just wanted to say a very big Thank you... because your page is such a Gift... If I had been a musician, lots of things would have been easier to learn...the only percussions instruments I have, are my feets and the beating of my heart when the music starts and fills my entire body... I ll come a lot on your page. Surely I will learn so many things. Thanks again!

Hola Rudy! Love your videos! A friend recently showed me 'pilon' on timbales, like what you've done in one of your videos. Can you please give me a link or suggest a song I can listen to that has the pilon rhythm in it?? I"m struggling to find something! Muchas gracias!! Paulina.
