About this user
I am a service-connected disabled veteran serving in the 1991 Persian Gulf War with numerous service-related awards and commendations. I served in the US Army Reserves, Active Army, South Carolina Army National Guard and retired from the Virginia Army National Guard (Total military service: 1984-2005).
I have served in civilian capacities from laborer, transportation, educator, store operations to Chief Executive Officer and others, also with numerous commendations.
I hold a baccalaureate degree in Religion & Philosophy (summa cum laude) from Shaw University, graduate coursework in Business Administration, Divinity, Public Administration, and Organizational Leadership & Development and numerous continuing education, vocational and technical courses including Nonprofit Management from Duke University and Workforce Development, Career Development Facilitator and Healthcare Financial Management and Operations and Grant Writing.
Recently, I found and joined an excellent grassroots organization called the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI - www.nami.org & www.naminc.org). In the past months, through NAMI, I have been trained as a Peer-to-Peer Mentor (P2P) and an In Our Own Voice Presenter (IOOV). All in efforts to advocate, educate & assist in eliminating the stigma associated with mental illness!
While I am a proud American Veteran with many life-long accomplishments, I would give it all back for a lifetime free of chronic mental and physical pain and serve again.
