Chapter VI: Sorcerers dont cry!
Educational topic: Stereotypes about virility
The virility of the sorcerers is determined through the number of sorcerer-fights one has or the roughness of his character. These demands are odd to Keni, a young apprentice that likes to cook and is very nice to the little witches. His heart is broken when Virgi, a classmate whom he likes very much, rejects his friendship and accuses him of being gay. Carmelo has to prove his virility to his fellow classmates, and to do so, he is going to ask Micala to pretend to be his girlfriend. This has the adverse affect of causing him to suffer taunts and ill-treatment from his classmates.

Media Impact's Radio Drama, "Toque Magico (Magic Touch)", is an active catalyst for the social development of local Ecuadorian youth. Through workshops, community outreach activities, and radio broadcasting, "Toque Magico" has raised awareness of women's rights and equality to over 35,000 community members.
From the Field:
VIVIANA INDACOCHEA Voice of the Spider Narrator (Amita)
Playing the spider narrator immersed me in the world of fantasies and realities of each character. It transported me to their world: feel what they feel, cry about what made them cry, smile with their smilesit seems wonderful to me the idea of getting a message of change across to the listeners of the radio drama because the storyline applies to real life and shows the need for change. I hope that our experiences, told in a magic story from Ecuador, allow the little sorcerer and witch we have inside each of us to desire a world full of gender equality allowing us to live better lives.

Chapter V: Positions so they can accept us
Educational topic: Blackmail and pressure in relations
Micala is a leader in her group at school. Although, when it comes to feelings, Carmelo confuses her. Relations between sorcerers and witches become more complicated. This is the case with Carmelo who, before he can fall in love, needs to demonstrate to his friends that he is a macho sorcerer. Magdalena faces two equally difficult paths.

EMILY BOWEN Member of Ponte Once
A radio drama has become part of my life to the point that I have had another name, "Barbi." There was plenty of laughter during each recording, as well as during the moments when a line did not come out correctly. We played characters in the plot, but in real life we were a family. Our radio production capacity increased which allowed us to do any scene, such as "Magdalena's" weeping who in reality is my dear friend Alejandra. It also made it possible to interpret my character "Barbi," a trendy girl that only thought about fashion and being beautiful but changed a lot during the course of the drama. It was very fun interpreting her role...Also, recording the song for the radio drama was very exciting. It was written for the youth that formed part of the radio drama and sung by Carlos and me. This radio drama has been one of the best moments of my life.
EMILY BOWEN Integrante Ponte Once

Chapter IV: Eye for an eye, Blow for blow?
Educational topic: Harassment in the school
Magdalena experiences sexist treatment from Professor Contreras, trainer of the domesticated dragons workshop, who labels her as weak and unintelligent, and is certain she is only in the workshop to find a husband. The disrespect towards the witches also manifests itself between fellow apprentices. Reinaldo, along with his group of friends, leads the harassment against the little witches with stares, shameless catcalls and even going so far as to touch them. Barbi, fed up with Reinaldo's harassment, slaps him in order to get the respect of the sorcerers.

Chapter III: The Magic Mirror Educational Topic: Gender Stereotypes At times, the little witches of the school, The Magic Kingdom, occupy spaces that they are habitually fated to, such as the catwalk for which Barbi thinks she is destined. In other instances, they jump at what is traditionally prohibited for a witch, such as being a ghost hunter. Nevertheless, bad vibes permeate in the scene. There are those who would not like anything to change.
From the Field: Name: Lady Meza
I played the role of Virginia, the mean girl that was full of resentment towards the world and above all against men. I didn't identify with her because I don't behave that way but it wasn't an obstacle to change into this character. Participating in the radio soap opera has helped me to bring to surface an artistic side of me that was hidden.
At first my family did not agree since I study medicine and they thought that I couldn't manage both things, but as time went by I showed them that it was something innovative in my life. Through their own volition, they became involved in the process and the subject matter of the drama. They began understanding that youth and above all their daughter needs to be understood. They listened to all of the episodes of the radio drama and we discussed the issue of sexuality, something that we had never done before.
