About Me:
I used to go the old jungle raves back in the day in Toronto, Canada. For those who may not know, Toronto has had a cutting edge jungle - D&B scene dating back to when it was hardcore techno.
We were blessed to have the finest jungle DJs outside of England educating us. We got the real tuff underground selection. They also flew over the pioneers from the UK (names like Rufige Kru, Phantasy & NRG in 92, Trace, Slipmaster J, Kenny Ken, Krome & Time, DJ Rap, Andy C, Darren Jay, DJ Hype) to play at legendary parties.
Missing the sounds of the early jungle that I used to hear, I decided to start getting oldskool wax shipped over from England and learn how to spin.
So, in late 99 I began stacking rare records, bought 1200s, and started spinning under the name Recoil in Toronto. Since then I've played numerous clubs, lounges, art shows and renegade jams.
In 2002 - 2003, I played a weekly slot on InterFACE Pirate radio, alongside DJ Dara, Maxx Vinyl and Moody & Rizzla. InterFACE was a pirate that took to the internet run by veterans Mad Ash and Eazee E.
In Toronto I was and still am part of Illegal Sound Crew. This was a crew of DJs founded by my homeboy Sixteenarmedjack. We specialized in playing the ruff oldskool rrrragga, as well as 16AJ's upfront mash-up ragga-jungle production. I was also part of A.M.P. Crew (Art & Music Productions) along with Medicine Muffin, Frankie Gunns, Spyda Brown & Pastafari. We got booked to play underground oldskool hardcore / jungle / D&B.
I moved to Montreal in 2007, where I still play out regularly at warehouse jams, clubs, loft parties and afterhours.
I play all styles of real ruff and rugged oldskool, but also deep house, techno, funky breakbeats.. newer D&B, UKG, oldskool hiphop and *anything* else that's good.
