MADDENING !!! I agree with Ant (full-disclosure : upper-middle-class white dude) as someone who started with CRAP and has battled my way to the borderline rich. My wife & I form a two income, middle class household, who the majority of America calls "rich" (coming up on $250,00/yr).  And the gov't want 1/3 of it, UP-FRONT !!! And as Ant so often points out: sales-taxes, property taxes, and everything else takes me down to 1/2. Where's the VALUE for my investments : banks get bailed out - their execs still get their bonuses; welfare moms keep having children indiscriminately, because they'll continue to be taken care of.

Anyway, I grew up in an economically depressed part of the country - Northern MN iron country - in the '80s. And you know what, I got the F""K out of there as soon as I could, to find a place where I could start at S""T jobs until I finally got a break (that I made for myself).
