Yeah, sorry about that.. what I meant was basic IR blaster functionality within open remote.. being able to have a IR reciever in each room, transmitting the IR signal down to a "technical" room with all the equipment,, and then have openremote do all the mojo. (Control multiple amplifiers connected to multiple zones, and perhaps a AV matrix with RS232 support)
A generic RS-232 scripting interface would open up alot of possibilities!
Im really diging this project, you`ll be sure to hear from me in the future. :)
best regards
Richard
Thank you for the compliments. Would like to hear how your project goes. Please visit us on the forums at http://www.openremote.org.
Regarding USB UIRT, if you mean USB interface to KNX then we do require KNXnet/IP gateway or router -- we integrate through the ethernet interface. Russound and X10 have RS-232 command interfaces but we are still working on getting a generic RS-232 scripting interface.
Would like to hear more about your requirements. It helps us prioritize features. It is best to continue this discussion on our forums where others are also able to participate.

We do plan to support X10 soon and are targeting it for 1.0 release -- you can see our goals for the first release here: http://openremote.org/display/
