When high levels of glucose enter the blood stream, insulin is released by beta cells in the pancreas. Insulin then initiates a number of signal pathways in specific muscle and fat cells. This takes a look at the signal pathway responsible for allowing those cells to rapidly increase their ability to uptake glucose from the blood stream. (less info)
