adding minutes or not will not keep you from turning on the wifi. can you go into settings>wireless&networks> turn on wifi > then select wifi settings> sign on to you wifi network. if the info is already entered then hold finger no it and then select forget network. reselect your wifi but put check mark into box to see characters. make sure the wifi says connected if it keep trying to connect and doesn't then recheck you wifi password. once connected to wifi open up web browser. if still won't connect drop security just for testing and see if it connects open or go to a coffee shop or other place open wifi and test connection

I bought it from radio shack brand new and i reset it and it still does not work i cant connect to the internet i actavaited it but dont have minutes.... help

i know the slider can work without being activated. that is the first thing I test out. untill activated I believe you can't update some of the google apps. unless they changed something in the phone to disable untill you activate the phone. there are people that steal them just to use on wifi or sell as bad esn on ebay for parts. Try doing a factory reset if you haven't done one yet. did you buy from local retailer?
