In Feb. 99 I began a project to make a video series (on VHS) called "Sunday Drive" and taped exactly one. In Feb. 06, after two months on YouTube, I began the Video Blog series. There was to be one a month, but I wanted them to resemble short professional television shows instead of regular YouTube Video Blogs. There is even a snappy credit sequence. WhenWordsCollide is the name of my Xanga blog.
Made for my then 12 YO niece, and originally 90 minutes long (on VHS), this series of videos comprise an original autobiography, complete with old photos, videos, and narration, backed by a music track consisting of popular hits of the times, from 1953-1989.
I'm an aging boomer who has been collecting pop music since high school. Many people my age refuse to leave the 60s-80s when it comes to music appreciation. I don't blame them. A lot of good music came out of "my era". Sometimes I miss good ol' rock and roll, but I get pumped up by a lot of "new music" too, and I listen to L.A. stations Power 106 and Amp music in my car. Nothing like Mr. Saxobeat to get me ready for work at 5am. I have over 1000 vinyl records dating back to the 60s. "Back in the day", I collected rock and roll, country, as well as big band "pop hitz" from my parents' generation. I still listen to all kinds of music. and I still love to dance. These are just some of the songs I liked this past year. Many are the "Official videos" and may have ads, I've also added a couple of selections of music from my past and will admit that a couple of songs were released earlier than this year.. I'm still adding to this... In no particular order here is my first music mix on YouTube.
