About Me:
When I was in my teens we spent a few years moving around the world. This has made me appreciate Sweden more but it has also made me very open-minded when it comes to different cultures.
I do believe multiculturalism can work in a society like Sweden - to an extent. I also, however, believe assimilation will occur naturally over time if not forced and that this is of vital importance to Sweden and Swedish culture. Culture is not static yet social cohesion depends on a dominant culture. For assimilation to ever happen in future generations an ethnic minority needs to be integrated. Note that there is an important difference between en ethnic and a national minority. Sweden's NATIONAL minorities should of course not be assimilated and their culture should instead be promoted alongside mainstream Swedish culture.
But when it comes to integration of ethnic minorities there are of course problems, especially due to mass-migration and segregation. We have Swedes who will never consider a non-Nordic person to be Swedish and we have children of immigrants who do not consider themselves Swedish at all and who have no love for the country.
So never accuse me of being naive. I know of the problems. Culture-clashes exist in Sweden just like in any other country and it's something which needs to be dealt with and not ignored.
