I have spent my whole career working in the music industry. I was a music publisher from 1982 to 1990, running Island Music Publishing and from 1990 to 2000 I was the Managing Director of Island records. Following my resignation in 2000 I set up a music management company Terra Firma. Under my direction Island Records enjoyed significant success with the signings of PJ Harvey, Pulp, The Cranberries, Tricky, Nine Inch Nails, the Stereo Mcs, PM Dawn, Talvin Singh, Chakka Demus and Pliers not to mention the reinvention of U2 from Achtung Baby onwards. During my time at Island records the label achieved 13 nominations (including three winners) in the Prestigious Mercury Music prize top ten albums of the year awards. In 2008 I merged Terra Firma into SEG UK ltd, a sports and entertainment management company with over 260 talents under management. I am the CEO of the UK entertainment division of the new organisation. SEG manages artists in the pop arena such as Leftfield, ShyFX, Younger Brother, Shpongle, Lemon jelly, Billy Ocean, Aswad and the music output of rising acting star Jim Sturgess and his partner Mickey O'Brian's new venture Tragic Toys amongst many others. SEG also works with The Noisettes via a consultancy relationship with BamBam music. The sports division includes many stars of the European football world and also includes the management of heavy hitting managers such as Sven Goran Eriksonn. We lost Paul Oakenfold as a client this year after 10 years together, however I'm proud to say that we just added Leftfield and Shy FX recently to add to our great roster of acts. In recent years our business has evolved to include a number of composers for the world of Film, Television and Games, including Mike McEvoy who scored 'Me and Orson Welles' currently in the UK and US cinemas. We work with Marc Canham and his company Nimrod who specialise in composing for the games industry (Driver, Act of War, Vietcong and most recently the huge hit Far Cry), Marc also recently scored his first major film 'The disappearance of Alice creed' for release in 2010. SEG UK has a thriving music supervision department, providing full music needs for the film industry.
