This is an excerpt from the world premiere in 1989 of Louis Andriessen's masterwork De Materie. In my opinion, this is one of the greatest works of the 20th century, It is also one of the most original, and it is certainly quite an approachable work. The first excerpt is from the beginning, and the second excerpt is from the middle, when the dancer starts to speak a text from M. Van Domselaer-Middelkoop's "Herrineringen aan Mondriaan", which were some memories about her time with Mondrian, the painter. This part of De Materie (which can be performed by itself) it like a painting of Mondrian, but come alive, complete with boogie woogie. You can read more about the work here.
