MY BIO:

Born in '76 and raised through the mid 80's in the island of Puerto Rico, I was, literally, always surrounded by the best kinds of singers the world could offer. If it wasn't the soul-wrenching voices of the boleros of my grandmother or the mellow, jazzy inflections of the salsa greats of my mom and dad, then I could always count on the 70's disco wails of my Auntie's music or the big pop and r&b icons of the early MTV era, with their Motown influences and modern take on soul and rock and roll. No matter what genre, it was always the voices that captured my imagination and compelled me to sing to anyone who would listen. Madison Square Garden would've trembled at the concerts me and my cousin put together for our neighbors right in front of our house (at least in our 8 year old minds).

My Aha moment came with the remarkable, 90's debut of the one and only Mariah Carey. Vision Of Love sent shivers down my spine that haven't left yet. She became the ultimate singer for me and it was through her songs that I began to experiment with my voice and work on range, runs and arrangement. Strange enjoyment for a young teenage boy, to be sure, but a poor boy could not have found a better voice teacher. A year after high school graduation, I found God and joined the worship team. Now my voice had found a platform of true expression and unadulterated joy through gospel music. 7 years later, a friend encouraged me to try out for a local musical production of Smokey Joe's Cafe and I landed one of the lead roles. It wasn't American Idol but I was ecstatic. Heck, it even made the papers. Strangely enough, I had the great privilege of meeting my hero, Mariah, right before this took place through some fortuitous events. I did thank her for years of great music and she even let me sing a bit for her, another defining moment for me.

Shortly after that, I focused on getting my voice out there through the magic of YouTube. My videos have received almost 360,000 views overall and a host of unexpected opportunities came my way from this: I even won a YouTube competition where I got to sing at a famous Jazz club for the cd release party of YouTube's own great vocal teacher and signed artist Eric Arceneaux in Washington, D.C. I continue to perform by request for the online fans while working on independent cd projects for a few local, Christian rap artists (I'm 'the hook singer' guy). It is fulfilling to me, but I've yet to realize my greatest dream of having my own album and standing on stage at a venue (small or great) filled with people being carried away by the power of a voice nurtured from birth to sing.
