In an episode of 'Before They Were Rock Stars' on VH1, my friends Scott Lewis and Gary Winter of ''The Scott and Gary Show" remember what it was like to host Beastie Boys, future superstars, but at the time, budding high school rappers. In fact, they weren't even rappers yet, they were punk rockers at that moment (1984).
Scott Lewis is now a painter. His work can be seen here http://www.flickr.com/photos/sogolo and he and was interviewed on the Island Arts Scene http://vimeo.com/3728035
Gary Winter is now a playwright, and his work is discussed and he's interviewed here http://culturebot.org/2009/03/06/five... and here http://aszym.blogspot.com/2009/09/i-i...
For more on the completely ahead of it's time Scott and Gary Show, do a google search and you won't be disappointed.

On October 26, 2009, I was brought in by a pr firm to testify at a court case as a rock and roll memorabilia expert--it was against the Salahi's in a claim against the firm who accidentally lost raw footage of them with the band Journey (shown here). The Salahis claimed that this lost footage was worth a fortune on the rock collectable market, and that they shouldn't have to pay the $20,000 they owed the firm. In fact, they claim the firm owed them money. Confused yet? I sure was.
Sadly the judge didn't rule in favor of either party. And I didn't tell anyone about this, because it was too hard to explain, much less fathom. Imagine my surprise on Thanksgiving morning when I saw the Salahis plastered all over the front page.
You be the judge on whether this footage is worth anything on the rock and roll collectible market. Here's what the Washington Post has to say: http://voices.washingtonpost.com/reli... And here's the Washington Times article about it http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2...
I'm Jeff Krulik and I appreciate you reading down this far.

They later sued a public relations company for losing the original video and outtakes, claiming it was an irreplaceable heirloom. Their case was dismissed last month. (Courtesy Brotman Winter Fried)

Here's some context for the video: http://voices.washingtonpost.com/reli... I wanted to show that Journey made an additional public service annoucement without the Salahis putting themselves into the mix.
