Healthy Families BC: Introducing Informed Dining

985 views 1 year ago
Dietitian Melodie Yong introduces the Informed Dining Program. Produced for the Province of BC by Global TV BC. Original airdate May 12, 2012. (Transcript to follow)

Melodie Yong:
"Dining out has become an enjoyable part of our everyday lives. You can choose to dine in style over a leisurely meal at a host of restaurants, order a take away meal to eat in the comfort of your own home, or pickup a quick bite at your local coffee shop."

"And while dining out is both convenient and pleasurable, making informed choices can be challenging. That's why the BC Government has worked closely with the restaurant industry to develop the Informed Dining Program."

"Watch for restaurants displaying the informed dining logo. These restaurants will provide nutrition information for all standard menu items including appetizers, entrees, side dishes, desserts and beverages. They will also provide helpful information about daily calorie and sodium requirements, so that you have the information necessary to make healthier choices while dining out."

[music]

Announcer: "Find out more at healthy families bc.ca, and enter to win one of many great dining prize packs at select informed dining restaurants."
