LEARNING THROUGH ART
Learning Through Art (LTA), an artist-residency program, cultivates student creativity by designing sustained, process-oriented art projects that support learning across the curriculum. The program sends experienced teaching artists into New York City public schools, where they collaborate with classroom teachers to develop and facilitate art projects integrated into the school curriculum. STILLSPOTTING NYC
While the vitality and stimulation of the urban environment can be pleasant, those living in or visiting densely populated areas, such as New York, can have wildly different experiences. The ever-present cacophony of traffic, the struggle for space, and anxious need for constant communication are relentless assaults on the senses. One wonders how locals and visitors can escape, find respite, and make peace with their space in this "city that never sleeps." The Guggenheim responds with stillspotting nyc, a two-year multidisciplinary project inviting architects, artists, designers, and composers to identify or transform "stillspots" through interactive public tours, events, or installations. Spanning six years of programmed activities that will engage people in nine major cities across the globe, the BMW Guggenheim Lab is conceived as an innovative movable structure, which will travel from city to city bringing together ambitious thinkers and becoming a public place for research, experimentation, and the sharing of ideas about major issues affecting urban life.

Works & Process at the Guggenheim, a performing-arts series that informs artistic creation through stimulating conversation and performance, is presented in the Guggenheim's Frank Lloyd Wright--designed 285-seat Peter B. Lewis Theater. Each season Works & Process champions new works and offers unprecedented access to leading creators and performers. After most programs, the artists continue the discussion at a gracious food and wine reception. Learn more at http://www.worksandprocess.org
