I imagine some of you who have stumbled upon this page have because of the NIN videos. Let me paint a picture about them...
*UPDATE* I recently filmed the FINAL NIN SHOW at The Wiltern in Los Angeles 9/10/09. It was a last minute decision to do so, so I didn't go out and get a new battery or anything, so again I only got part of the show, but it was more evenly distributed. The widescreen videos are from my regular video cam (details below) and the square ones are from my stills camera (details also below) from when I ran out of battery on the primary camera.
The lower quality, "square" format videos are from the Inglewoood show, as noted on each video. Those were taken with a Sony DSC-W50 camera, which is designed for Stills. Not bad, for that type of camera, if you ask me...
Now, the more interesting videos are the Widescreen format ones from the Vegas show. These were taken with a Sony DCR-HC90 Handycam... not an HD camera, but it still looks pretty good. When I uploaded the original raw files to straight from the camera to youtube, the widescreen formatting got screwed up, and the quality was greatly reduced. To combat this, I made a copy of the originals and upconverted them to an HD size, then re-uploaded. This made youtube think they were HD, and they scaled them down to their version of HD, which is still lower quality than the originals, but better than "High Quality"... so there has been some trickery, but whatever. This is as good as its gonna look on youtube. If you want the original raw files, straight off the camera as I sent in for the Fan DVD (by the way, check out www.thisoneisonus.org for info about that), you can get them down by the BAY where the PIRATEs hang out... user seed7600...
You may also notice that I essentially only have the first half of the show... well, there's a few reasons for that. My camera is a few years old, so finding an additional battery with limited time proved impossible, and there was an issue with uniformed personnel at the Planet Hollywood venue... Though by the time they got to me, I only had 2 minutes of battery left, so it really didn't matter.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy the videos, and will check out the Fan DVD when its done... I'm looking forward to it, and am proud to have contributed. And sorry for the unnecessary zooming in some parts... I had to let my excitement out somehow!
